Lucifer is an American television series that revolves around a fantasy world. It is a show based on a DC Comics character and its first season got released in 2016. Lucifer is back with its fifth season, and the trailer has already been released online. The show was developed by Tom Kapinos and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television, Warner Bros Television, and DC Entertainment.

The series revolves around a character named Lucifer Morningstar, played by Tom Ellis, who is a Devil. He has abandoned the hell to live in Los Angeles, and runs a nightclub. Apart from the lead, the other actors playing as supporting roles are Lauren German as Detective Chloe, D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Kevin Alejandro as Detective Dan, Lesley Brandt as Mazikeen, and Rachael Harris as Dr Linda.

The first season of the show did not receive high ratings, but the rest of the seasons were highly praised. The fifth season of the show will be released on August 21, 2020 with a total of sixteen episodes. “The production of the show almost completed before the pandemic, only half of the final episode still to be shot,” Lesley Brandt said. As mentioned above, the trailer has already been released, and along with it a new character Michael has been introduced. Ellis also plays the new role of Michael, which is introduced as Lucifer’s twin brother.

The fourth season ended on a cliffhanger as Lucifer returns to hell to claim his throne, and that is where it wrapped up. The new trailer has given hope to the audience that Lucifer will return to earth, but actually, that is his twin brother returning to Lucifer’s friends and family. However, Lucifer is expected to return at some point in the show.

Fox canceled the show after releasing its first three seasons, but later the series got picked up by Netflix that announced Lucifer’s fourth season. Not only this but initially the return of season 5 was announced as the last and final chapter with a total of ten episodes. Later, the season got extended with six more episodes making it a total of sixteen episodes. Modrovich made an announcement via Twitter about season 5 to be the last and also mentioned that the team wants its audience to take time and sink in and accept the news. However, Netflix surprisingly announced via Twitter on June 23 renewing a new season that’ll be the final segment.
